Military Contractor Brings Smoothie Factory to Al Udeid Air Base in Doha, Qatar
Dallas, Texas, USA – A good smoothie or juice can really make or break a morning or workout, and finding that perfect sip was a struggle for contractor Mike Byrd throughout his years of service at his base. Because of this, he took it upon himself to ensure that no active military members have to face the same challenge — he’s now brought the Smoothie Factory to Al Udeid Air Base in Doha, Qatar.
As a Florida native, Byrd says he “grew up on smoothies.” He felt that military bases were underserved when it came to healthy food choices and, in particular, smoothies. Byrd opened his first Smoothie Factory location this Tuesday, December 7th, and is positioned adjacent to the bases’ sprawling workout facilities providing easy and convenient access to base personnel looking to quench their thirst and satisfy their craving for something healthy.
Launching a Smoothie Factory store on a military base presents some challenges due to government procedures that need to be followed that differ from franchising on an off-base location. Franchisees may not be able to choose an exact location on the base. However, there are some major benefits such as having a captive audience and limited competition.
The opening of the Smoothie Factory Al-Udeid Air Base base location marks the brands 3rd store opening in the Qatar market with a 4th store scheduled to open this February at Education City.
